A beer named for everyone’s favorite Shiba Inu. There were some issues with the grain bill and the amount of two row included. We “think” we resolved it, but the beer looks like it will come out much stronger than we anticipated. This maxed our system and was likely the hardest beer we ever brewed. We have also entered this beer into the Bluebonnet Brew-off to be judged in March. 13 Gallon Preboil Volume, 11 Gallon Postboil Volume. 90 minute boil. Preboil: 1.080 Original Gravity: 1.092 Final Gravity:1.012 ABV: 10.5%                               Read More →

The end of year transitional beer. That’s right, we are happy to announce that the 2023 beer run will be internet memes! And who better than to ring in the new year than Georgio Tsoukalos and Ancient Aliens. We have also entered this beer into the Bluebonnet Brew-off to be judged in March. Original Gravity: 1.064 Final Gravity: 1.014 ABV: 6.5%                                                                                      Read More →

The Houston Astros are your 2022 World Series Champs! And what better alien deserves his own brew than our very own Orbit. We have also entered this beer into the Bluebonnet Brew-off to be judged in March. Pew Pew Pew

An American IPA. This is a bitter beer, and it has turned out to be one of our favorite IPAs that we’ve made. We didn’t podium with it at Eureka Height’s in their second annual Lupulin Quest competition, but we brewed this beer, and drank all of it before the judging was even completed. You could say we liked it a lot. Special thanks to Todd Limbaugh for inspiring us and pointing out the competition. ‘ULA’ULA PIA – Hawaiian for Red Beer This is a double dry hopped specialty IPA. We would have liked the red to have come through a bit more, but this is a smooth, easy drinking, nice IPA. We entered this into the second annual Eureka Heights Lupulin Quest Homebrew Competition but did not podium. Pre-boil Gravity: 1.066 Original Gravity: 1.074 Final Gravity: 1.009 ABV:8.9%                                                                                   Read More →

1st Place – Sweet Stout : 2023 Boot Brew Festival, Eunice Louisiana. This beer favors a porter and not a stout, but the bitterness will make it taste like a stout because of the coffee. I was torn as to what to call it. Our local brewery, Bakfish, recently started roasting their own coffee beans, so as a challenge, we decided to make coffee beers for February. I’ve enjoyed this fireside, but you must like coffee to enjoy this beer, as it is bold in coffee flavor. Note that this was a 10 gallon preboil volume that yielded just over 8 gallons at kegging withRead More →

White Labs Swag

Ok, so our Punch-Out Porter beer didn’t win a competition based on taste itself. Womp Womp. But the brew’s Little Mac label was selected out of hundreds of entries into the Brew Your Own Magazine’s (BYO.com) 26th annual beer label competition as the bronze winner! Today we received swag from BYO care of White Labs Brewing Company including FREE PUREPITCH YEAST. So it is time to brew more beer! Thanks to BYO for a fun competition. We have thoroughly enjoyed this year’s original Nintendo label theme and we look forward to revealing the new theme for 2022! It is coming quick… Update: WOOT! GrogTag, ourRead More →

The Hazy IPA preferred by ninjas everywhere. Ryu agrees. This beer is our first attempt at a Hazy IPA, and we are planning to enter it into the 6th Anniversary brew competition at Bakfish Brewery. Original Gravity: 1.060 Final Gravity: 1.017 ABV: 5.64%                                                                                    Read More →

Tecmo Bowl

Arguably the best football video game ever made… Tecmo Bowl and Super Tecmo Bowl brought the gridiron straight into your living room. I loved playing as the Houston Oilers using Warren Moon at the helm. Of course, it was impossible to stop the Raiders and Bo Jackson. This beer is our first attempt at a Hazy IPA, and we are planning to enter it into the 6th Anniversary brew competition at Bakfish Brewery. Original Gravity: 1.073 Final Gravity: 1.017 ABV: 7.35%                                                 Read More →

Translation: Raccoon Tail Beer… a.k.a. Tanooki’s Mexican Lager. Sure Mario was Italian, but we’re pretty sure he celebrated Cinco De Mayo in his Tanooki suit because he loves to party. Dress it up with a little salt and lime, and take off and fly with this lager tinted in Mittelfruh and Motueka hops. This lager was brewed at the Hopping Grape birthday celebration for Keith Brooks and will be entered into the Cinco De Mayo homebrew competition hosted by Galveston Bay Brewing… we didn’t win, but we had fun brewing!
