1st Place – Sweet Stout : 2023 Boot Brew Festival, Eunice Louisiana.
This beer favors a porter and not a stout, but the bitterness will make it taste like a stout because of the coffee.
I was torn as to what to call it. Our local brewery, Bakfish, recently started roasting their own coffee beans, so as a challenge, we decided to make coffee beers for February. I’ve enjoyed this fireside, but you must like coffee to enjoy this beer, as it is bold in coffee flavor. Note that this was a 10 gallon preboil volume that yielded just over 8 gallons at kegging with the added coffee.
