Hey everyone!
It’s been a little while since you’ve seen a new post pop up on B3.Beer, and I wanted to take a moment to let you know that the site is still alive and kicking! While the regular rhythm of 2-3 posts a month describing my latest homebrews might have slowed down since 2023, the recipes and artwork from those years are still here for you to explore and enjoy. There’s a treasure trove of brewing ideas just waiting to be rediscovered!
So, what’s been happening? Well, in 2024, my brewing focus shifted a bit. I decided to take my passion for crafting delicious beer to the next level and dive into the world of homebrewing competitions. This meant that the time and money I used to dedicate to designing and printing unique labels for each batch started going towards entry fees for these competitions. Plus, with the competitive aspect in mind, I decided to hold off on publishing all my new recipes for the time being.
But that doesn’t mean the brewing has stopped! In fact, it’s been quite the exciting journey. This year, I’m thrilled to be representing the Bay Area Mashtronauts and competing in the Lone Star circuit locally. On the national stage, you’ll find me competing in the Master Homebrew Program’s Circuit of America’s. It’s been a fantastic experience so far, pushing my skills and allowing me to connect with other passionate brewers.
Beyond the competitions, I’ve also been making some exciting upgrades to my brewing setup. I recently acquired an Oktober can seamer machine! Let me tell you, I’ve been elbow-deep in this thing, taking out every single screw to give it a thorough deep clean and rid it of any rust. It’s a labor of love, but I’m incredibly excited about the prospect of canning my own brews in the near future. To complete the canning setup, I also have a Duo can filler on its way from Norway – the anticipation is real!
Speaking of exciting developments, I also had the incredible opportunity to brew a collaboration beer with the fantastic Vallenson’s Brewing Company in Pearland, Texas! And the best part? That very beer has been entered into the upcoming World Beer Cup in Indianapolis, Indiana! Wish us luck!
I do have plans to spend some time updating the site in the future with some fresh content. While it’s currently a bit further down on my priority list with all the brewing and competition activities, I do envision making occasional posts about my brewing process, any new equipment I’m using (like that shiny new can seamer!), or perhaps even some insights into the competition scene.
So, while the posting frequency might be different these days, rest assured that B3.Beer is still a viable resource for homebrewing inspiration. Feel free to browse the archives, and who knows, maybe you’ll find your next favorite recipe!
Cheers, and happy brewing!
